Prolonged cycle of armed violence and insecurity have a destructive impact on a country’s development, affecting economic growth and often resulting in long standing grievances among communities that can last for generations. Effective governance based on the rule of law is an important pre-requisite for sustainable development. AIU believes that the main hope of a nation lies in the proper education and governance of its children and youths. For post-conflict societies, like northern Uganda therefore, development initiatives must be conflict sensitive and integrate an analysis of a broken down social, economic, cultural, political and environmental imperatives for genuine transformations.
